French EPR for textiles, linen and footwear

Updated 15 October 2026 · by Bachir Djebaili, founder of REP·Pro

Direct answer: The French textiles scheme covers new clothing, household linen and footwear placed on the French market, whatever the material. One eco-organisation is approved: Refashion. The producer is the one who first places the article on the French market, including a seller established abroad shipping to French consumers; it can appoint an authorised representative established in France. One unique identifier for the scheme; contributions per article, modulated by the eco-organisation's scale.

What falls in this category

New clothing for adults and children, household linen (bed, bath, table, kitchen linen), and footwear, placed on the French market for the first time. The eco-organisation's nomenclature lists the article categories and the exclusions; the declaration is a count of articles per category and per period.

Who the texts call the producer

The person who, in France, manufactures, imports or sells at a distance from abroad, under its name or brand, the articles of the scheme, or who first places them on the French market. A brand established in Italy or Portugal selling through its own site to French consumers, or through a marketplace, is in that position for the articles it ships; a producer established abroad may appoint an authorised representative established in France. The determination is yours, from the texts.

The eco-organisation

Refashion is the eco-organisation approved by the French state for textiles, linen and footwear. The producer joins it through the representative; the contribution follows Refashion's published scale per article, with eco-modulations.

The number and the marking

One unique identifier for the scheme, FRxxxxxx_xx, in the ADEME register. Sorting information (Triman and instructions) applies to the articles; the eco-organisation provides the files. Marketplaces have a textiles line in their compliance screens. How to read the number →

What MyEPR does for this category

Under the mandate, REP·Pro, established in France, joins the eco-organisation you choose for this category, obtains your unique identifier, files the declarations from the volumes you provide and remains your contact in France. The eco-contributions are invoiced by the eco-organisation at its published rates and re-invoiced to you at cost; the plan price is the only fee. One category is the Starter plan (€29 a month or €249 a year, 12-month plan); with other categories it counts towards Pro or Complete. Pricing · Mandate · How it works.

This page describes the French texts and the service. It is you who determine whether your products fall under this category and whether your company is the producer: the criteria are those of the texts, and the eco-organisations publish their own guides. MyEPR registers you for the categories you tick; it does not decide them for you.

FAQ

Are accessories, bags and hats included?

The scheme covers clothing, household linen and footwear as defined by the French texts; the eco-organisation's published nomenclature lists what counts as clothing (including some accessories) and what does not. You determine the classification of each product line from that nomenclature.

Second-hand clothes too?

The scheme applies to new articles placed on the French market for the first time. Second-hand articles already placed on the market are not declared again.

How is the contribution calculated?

Per article placed on the market, by category of the eco-organisation's scale, with bonuses for durability and recycled content. The representative declares the units you provide; the contribution is the eco-organisation's and is re-invoiced to you at cost.
